spotting
« on: August 28, 2005, 11:13:29 am »
I've just had a go for the first time with my wfp on my house and found it really quick.
The only problem i have is it's leaving little dirt spots on the window apart from two of them. I don't know what i did different when i cleaned them but is it down to rinsing?????????? ???

I've got PVC frames and found while cleaning them i got a milky coloured water down the windows.
I've just tried again and did a longer rinse but still got spotting but not so bad.
After i have celaned them should i turn the power up to rinse as i am leaving it on one setting for clean and rinse?

Hi Craig and everyone,

Craig, for your first clean, make sure you wash the top frame thoroughly, especially the top rubber. Then wash the rest of the frames, go back to the first window, wash the window, but try not to hit the top rubber with the brush (you should have already washed this part of the glass when you did the frame you see). Then rinse, you may try holding your brush a inch or two of the window to rinse. But again, when rinsing, try not to hit the top rubber. Providing you have a TD's reading of 0, this will give you a spot free window.

Hope this helps

Just re-done one upstairs & one downstairs window. I think i was doing them too quick to start with and not getting the dirt from the top of the frame. Then i gave them a good rinse and they seem to come up really good. ;D
At the moment i think i am quicker on ladders but i suppose it just takes time and practice to get quicker with the pole.
Does anyone find it easier and quicker when you have to go back and clean them again a month later or is it the same each time?

Andrew (24-7 s c services), I've mounted the backpack on a trolley so i don't have to carry the weight. But what i was thinking was trying to mount a second tank to the trolley as it goes through water quite quick. Do you think this is possible? Have you done this with yours?

Hi Craig,

I fill mine from the tank in my van. What you could do, is get a couple of 25lt containers and carry them in the boot of your car and just full your backpack as required. Or depending on the design of your trolley, you could probably have another water tank on it and feed the water supply to your backpack. Send me a picture if you can of your setup.

Many Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I have containers for carrying water.
I haven't got it set up on the trolley you can fit two tanks on at the moment, but wondered if you just ran a pipe from the extra tank into the backpack would it draw water from it or would a different set up be required.
The other trolley is a golf trolley and could fit a 25ltr container on quite easily aswell as the backpack.

Hi again Craig,

I am not sure about this, but I am sure the back pack needs to be kept pressurised, but again I may be wrong. Try it without the top screwed on, if it pumps OK, then you could run a pipe from your storage container into the backpack.

The other way to do it, would be to drill a hole in the lid of the backpack, fit a hozelock male adapter in it and then, pipe it to your water container, providing the water container is higher than the backpack, it will stay topped up.
