Ah, the olden days of good grammar and spelling:-
When I was flying in the war I would write to my girlfriend thus:-
To my "best gal"!
I say Pippa old thing, had a wizard day today! Took the old kite up to 15 thou', saw a 109 at 4 O'clock, dived and poured lead into her. Jerry was having none of it and got on my tail and I took a round through an oil line.
Well, I did a corkscrew but the old girl was chuffing out oil and I headed for blighty. Came down with a helluva bump and sent ground 'erks a-running. A wizard prang old sausage, but yours truly is in one piece, so you'll be made up about that!
So I'm sat in the mess getting a roasting off the "old man" who tells me I should look after 300mph of Hurri' more carefully. Still, getting a Spit next week so that's bonzer!
Well must go - the lads are piling into the adj's MG to go down the old watering hole - keep the home fire burning old thing! (Hem, hem what eh?)
With "dang and a bing bang spillip" as we used to say in the quad at my alma mater ...
TTFN!
Wodger "handlebars" Malone
Much more understandable than this modern texting lark!
