I use this    http://www.pump.co.uk/generators-c108/petrol-silent-generators-c115/loncin-lc5000ddc-silent-petrol-generator-p5643

For my 3600W vac you'll need a bigger one for the 4200W vac if you have one.
Of course you are not allowed to use 240v if you want to pretend you are a professional. I do and have had no problems.

For our Gen1 a 5.5 KVA is needed, for our Gen2 a nice light 2.8 KVA will do!

Craig, can't you use a smaller genny for your Gen1 vac?
2400W vac and 5.5kva generator seems a little large to me.
I'm no electrician mind.

Dave- n it needs 5.5kva, 2400watts still alot of power!

Ian- the suction on the gen2 is very good due to air flow within a 38mm hose, upto 25' ideal.

Yes, but I use smaller than 5.5 kva for a larger 3600W vac  ???

In fact, mine is 5kva running over a thousand more watts. Have had no problems for the last year with it.

38mm hose at fifty feet plus.
