Harvesting rainwater.
« on: June 11, 2010, 07:08:42 am »
Finally plumbed in my downpipes to my two ibc tanks last weekend. So I've got my neighbours and my own gutter back and front going into each individual tank. One at front is full to brim and back one is almost there. Tds is 20. My question is does anyone else use this system and if you do. What kind of filter do you put in downpipe to prevent and debris/leaves etc from entering your tanks?

I too would like to know how you can use this water to clean windows. My TDS is 70 on the water in my water butt.

Bladerunner (L.Doubtfire) is a pioneer of this too I think. He manages to collect it at a ridiculously low level something like 002.

There`s just a simple `trick `to it.Jeff Brimble phoned me up a
Few years ago now,Jeff`s the master at this really. He`s 6 garage
Roofs or something or so,collects hundred`s of liters at a time.
I collect mine at 000ppm,after a couple of day`s it does climb
To about 002 ppm sometimes it stays at 001ppm though.
Then I just put it th`ru`some resin to polish it down to 000ppm
At which it stays till used.
Sometimes I use it as it comes outta the sky, lovely and soft,
Unteated rainwater.
