« on: May 26, 2010, 08:44:26 pm »
Hey guys, hope everyone is well? Ive been asked by the estate agent i clean for to provide a quote for a property, and was wondering what you knowledgable lot think.

Its a furnished property consisting of porch, entrance hall, downstairs toilet, kitchen, study, dining room, lounge, stairs and landing, 4 bedrooms, and bathroom.

No carpet cleaning is required

Hope you guys can help??

Without seeing the condition its hard to say.

No carpet cleaning, Are you doing the windows? What about an oven clean?

If so I would go in around £330+ VAT mark.

I dont know the prices for hereford.

Do you do many EOT's?

If I was you I would include a task list and perhaps BICS's Cleaning standards.

Letting agents can be a complete pain for saying "Oh its not satisfactory". They tend to find anything to hold up payment.

Yes Dash. We do many EOT Cleans for many corporate firms not just small letting agents.

We even work on a few of the TV programmes that show people homes etc or designs.

£330 + vat! with no carpets. i can't believe people pay those prices, not because it's over priced, just a lot higher then my competition. i have had people say customers will pay more then what i charge but i can't find any of them. i recently put my online quote down a small amount to help with getting so few cleans lately and it appears to have helped (though could be down people needing the cleans now rather then price shopping before, or any other reason) so i can't imagine how some can charge that rate.

i know some of the bigger companies in my area charge less then me. do people find EA's price more or less? we worked with one who expected prices of around £12 per hour and in record breaking time to clean so that didn't work out for very long.

I'd quote it at around £240 without carpets.  We have done about 200 spring/eot cleans in two years and they vary enormously but I just add up how long and charge our usual hourly rate.  If they're really minging and I think the team need an incentive to do it then I'll charge 1.5 or 2 times our hourly rate so I can pay them more, but we've only had two like that and the client didn't even flinch at the price!  We are talking houses of grime though.

Mind you sometimes you just can't compete.  I went to price up a 4 bed 2.5 bath house the other day where she wanted all the woodwork washing and windows cleaning, as well as all furniture moved, venetian blinds, etc and I quoted £245.  She took a sharp intake of breath and told me she'd been quoted £135!  I said well I can't compete with that as they are either charging £8 per hour or they aren't going to clean it to our standards.  I'd have had to squeeze the schedule to fit it in anyway so good luck to the silly sods who took it on at that price.  They'd earn more working at macdonalds!

Cheers

Diane

I would charge £170 just for carpets.

If they dont pay I dont do the work. We have more work than we can handle at the moment.

I did a 4 bed house the other day with windows and carpets £470 job took 7 hours with 2 staff. They veiwed it, loved it. We have now been given the entire portfolio with the company. They are not letting agents. These are management companies. If you are failing on price then your work does not speak for itself.

But again the price depends on the condition so there are many variables. So believe it. People pay. I mean it does not stop Rolls Royce from selling cars does it?
