thinking of diversifying into roof cleaning?

just did my 1st roof clean, absolute nightmare, scraped off the dry dead lichen/moss.

just one side of the house took me 5hrs, and i only charged £70! gutted.  :'(

might start doing it if the competition brings wcing prices too low.

anyone else had a go?

btw, for anyone thinking of doing it, it is a killer! i can hardly move now! back is in half, blisters over my feet and hands, but if some one paid me £500 to do it i would be happy with it.

They do it with a pressure washer round my way. Mega money if you can find someone gullable enough.

i know its not essential as long as your roof isnt leaking, but it does look nice when its painted. or even just cleaned, should have taken a before and after pic of my work.

My father said in his cul-de-sac there were some pikey types offering to 'jet wash roofs' he didn't have his done but a couple of neighbours did have theirs done.

He said they were charging around £800 per house (i will double check that with him??) but he also said they had about 4 guys on the roof at any one time scarpering aroung.

Anyhow he also said from what he can see they did a very good job of it and has obviously made a huge difference to the appearance - looking almost new again.

If you have a head for heights and adequate insurance then i reckon this is a hugely profitable business to get into.
