What a week!!!
« on: May 21, 2010, 09:49:38 pm »
Hi guys,

What a poop week!

Machine lost pressure! Spare machine wouldn't start! Big machine is out of order! (so have got a hire machine)! Job with the worst drainage in the world! Lance snapped in two! Got Tooth ache! Speeding fine with 3 points! Kiosk manager splashed with hot chip oil visit to A & E! (so have to postpone a job and then try to squeeze another 6 hours out of next week, am already working the full 7 days)

That feels better that its now of my chest!!! :)

But oh well!!! Walked through the door cuddled my gorgeous 2 year old and am sat down with a cold beer with my wife on the sofa!! So not all bad ;)

Oh well start again next week!!! ;D

Alan

If it is any consolation I have had an absolute stinker as well!!

Got pulled by VOSA going from my house to Banbury, last Monday. I was towing the largest of my trailers, with my Movano van. Both are clean & tidy and all the couplings are in order, with good tyres all round and nothing to worry about - or so I thought.

On the M6 at junction 14 - Stafford, saw VOSA on both sides of the road, checked speed and went past, an old transit went past me, held together with Sellotape, looked in the mirrors and the lights had come on, they pulled in front of me and the follow me sign came on.

Cut a long story short I need to fit a tachograph. Gave me 7 days to deal with it or not use the trailers, so I get it booked in today and drop it off in Cannock - about an hour from me.

Phone me back and inform me that the electric wiring had been done but the tachograph unit had not arrived and was in Dundee!!!!!!. I hit the roof and inform them I will be taking legal advice if the van & tacho is not back with me by tomorrow, loss of earnings on new contract starting Sunday.

This is for the largest supermarket chain in the country!!!

They phone me back and tell me that the unit will be ready by lunchtime tomorrow but that I need a card reader. I can only get this by paper application and this can take up to two weeks to turn round. No extension to lifting the prohibition they have placed on my van trailer activities.

I am now driving van No 1 down to Aylesbury, after picking it up from the fitting centre tomorrow and then getting a train home and driving my second van down on Sunday. I need to take a lot of kit down!!

All this will be reversed next week when I come home!!!

Alan I have to believe that it will all make me and my business stronger and better, all I want to do is cry!!!!

Keep moving forward and build your empire!

Rob ;D

Well I cant say I'm glad that I'm not the only one having a a hard time, maybe not as comparable as Rob and Alan, but I tell you what.  End of last week I got an email from a client that wanted the current cleaner out as it was just not working out.  I have trained and retrained the guy so I sacked him and paid him in lieu for his notice period.  I took on the cleaning myself to keep the client happy and get the place back up to standard.  Thought I would do it for a few weeks then start looking for a suitable replacement.  Got an email Thursday that said another client had left a list of stuff she did not feel was getting enough attention and the cleaner got upset, decided it was not his fault and left all the things on the list unattended to.  Sack number two, so I start cleaning there on Monday.  I think I have the week end off, but I do have a client that has one off post event cleaning and I had two for this week end, one on Saturday and one Sunday both at 6:00 pm  The clean require 3 cleaners.  I get phone call at 4:30 one of the cleaners is drunk off his ass and trying to start the clean even though the wedding is still going on.  Sent him home, you guessed it I gave him the sack and he does not only do the one offs for me, he has permanent work during the week, and guess who will have to pick that up next week.  So for the next couple of weeks anyway I will be picking up the cleaning for 3 cleaners unitl I can find suitable replacements.  You would not think it by the way the last week is going but I am pretty picky about who I put on so I do not look forward to this, trying to find the right person but hey ho, I do not have to work anymore unitl tomorrow (Sunday) at 6:00 pm so I am having a Cpt Morgans and Coke and will get on with it tomorrow.  Now if bad things happen in 3's then I should be about even and can get going in the right direction again.
