how many microfibres or scrims?
« on: May 20, 2010, 09:41:52 pm »
Hi all my rounds just building up and i seem to be getting through microfibres like no tomorrow!! im only doing 10-12 average houses a day for 3 days a week but her indoors is now complaining about keeping them clean/dry. My question is how many scrims etc do u get through in an average day or is my squeegie method not up to scratch? cheers

In this warm weather (down south) i would say no more than 1 every 3x 3 bed semi's.

Hi,

My microfibers are 80 x60cm & when I use spray & wipe I use  two for a 3 bed semi. But using them for detailing like you do one should be enough for up to five houses including spray & wiping the fan windows. I use cut up bath towels of the same size to wipe sills so not to dirty to much my microfibres  when squeegeeing.  I have a about 60 cloths sometimes enough for one week & not others. Put them all in the wash at one go ready for next day. HANG THEM OVER FURNITURE BEFORE YOU GO TO BED IF WET OUTSIDE. ALWAYS DRY IN MORNING.

practise more on your squeegie method and you will only need 1damp scrim and 1dry scrim and sill cloth, this is all you should need for a day!

when you wet the windows do you wet all the way to the edges so it wets part of the frame as well?

One scrim should be enough, wash it out regularly and wring it out by hand, thats how most Northern window cleaners do it. It takes a while to get used to wringing it out by hand, this way it won't be bone dry, but it will have some, albeit small amount of dampness so when you rub it over the glass it cleans perfectly everytime.....
Forgot to mention, use grade 2 scrim - that's what the Pro's use.
