Right lads and lasses, I need to invest in a long pole; somewhere around the 60ft mark and can't make up my mind whether telescopic or modular is the way to go. As I see it there are pros and cons on both sides; the modular is lighter but I really don't like the fact that it's adjustable only by whole section lengths, whereas the telescopic poles are adjustable by as much or as little as I need for the job in hand. If the modular poles are anything like my fishing poles in time they'll start to chip on the female ends and sooner or later I will leave a section or two behind somewhere.

To be honest the only thing I can think of against the telescopic pole is weight; but I may well be missing something.

Your advice please folks - carbon telescopic or modular

I have used both the modular are much easier to use once they are erected but are a pain to erect and have all the sections seperate and they can be prone to snapping
i now use a 57ft Brodex carbon hydra pole (telescopic) and you can remove the sections so it`s not as heavy if you are doing lower work best thing to do is see if you can go and demonstrate both kinds of poles somewhere  and see what you think

I would have to say that if you are working at 60ft then it has to be modular, unless it's just a few windows. Windows at that level normally come in large banks and when on a pole for 20+ mins at a time you need the most rigid and lightest available. It has to be said that modulars are tricky to erect and there is always a chance of leaving or stepping on a section, however this is outweighed by the extra work you can do with the pole due to not feeling as creamed.

If it's less than an hours work use telescopic. If it's over an hour, modular. Personal preference modular where practical anyday simply because of the weight and rigidity issue anyday.

F16 got me to 80ft, but the "old " M16 is stronger.

Cheers for the advice lads; weight aside, what's the difference on rigidity - is that a word???

Obviously I plan to use the pole more and more as time goes by - and to be honest I need a pole that's going to last too as they're not cheap are they!!!
