I've got a 1.3 multijet on a '56 plate. I've had it from new and I've only done 21,000 miles.

I chose it cuz:-

It is a car derived van with a gross weight of 2000kg (the 1.9 is 2025kg so over the limit) and so I can drive at car speeds on dual carriageways and national speed limit roads.

It has a 736kg payload and pulls me plus 425Litres just fine at over 40mpg round my round or 50mpg on a run. It will cruise at 70 and top out at about 90, but if I was on motorways all day I would go for the 1.9.

By luck I have found that if registered after about mid 2005 and before Dec 31 2006 (Mine is Nov 1st 2006) it has cheap road tax of £125.

Get one with side doors.

The 1.9 is beefier of course but IMO if you need it then go for a scudo/expert

Interesting! Thanks for the info. What year is that? If it's pre-'55 facelift you might find that your payload is "only" 625kg. My manual deffo puts the 1.9 at 2025kg.

Thanks for the replies. Still undecided.

I've had a quick look on google and it has the 1.9 at 2010kg gross weight!

as far as I can tell, on your vin plate under the bonnet it tells you the gross weight of the vehicle.

As it happens i wont be doing much motorway driving so can still manage 60 mph when required.

Speed restrictions if over 2000kg:-

Motorway 70 mph
Dual Carriageway 60 mph
Single Carriageway 50 mph.

If your 1.9 is classed as a light goods vehicle its road tax will be £200. (Look at the tax disc to see the rate.)

If it is rated Euro 4 (1.3 only up to 31 Dec 2006) it will be £125.

I've got a 2007 1.3 multijet. By far the best van I've had!

You have to drive one to believe the power of these little babies!!!

Pulls like a train, even with 400 ltrs in! Yep, really ;)

When you look at what you get for your money, against other vans like the connect, it's a no brainer IMO.

Can't praise the doblo enough! :)

Still no van! It was canny condition, the odd bumper scrape & cig burn in seat...it was described as excellent condition!

Two front tyres were bald on the inside pointing to possible tracking problem at the least!

A decent van, the seller was an arrogant sod though! "I dont NEED to sell it so I wont be lowering the price!" It only had a months test and needed the signwriting removed, he said he would drop a ton off the price..3700 to 3600 if I took it as it was!!! Ya all heart!

He said service history but then said the van never came with a service book!!! Yeah right! The guy was legit, he had his own blinds business.

All in all a decent van but his arrogance and lack of movement on the price  plus money I would need to spend on it and lack of history put me off...still looking!

P.s. The vin plate showed gross weight at 2010kg and it was classed as a car derived van on the v5.

And me!

I drive quite gently but nevertheless braking with 500kg of water and fuel on board will take it's toll on pads and tyres. I get about 12K from front tyres and the backs are still ok from new at 21,500. I reckon all will need changing at about 25K.

I'm getting new front pads tomorrow as they are very low.
