Do you ever ring 'em back?
« on: May 12, 2010, 07:24:12 pm »
I had a call today from a price shopper asking a price for cleaning 2 sofas, give a fair/cheapish price as I will soon be running out of work, never heard anything else.

Do any of you chase these calls up to see if they are still interested or do you just leave it?

I never call them back.

Might be worth chasing up if its a good bit of commercial work that you have quoted in person, to make sure they "received" your written quote.

most price shoppers you will never hear from again next time you have one call try to find out where thy are fist and try to pi them down to doing an onsite quotation. you will find you will get lot more work that way. I still quote 75 % of my jobs apart from obvious single rooms etc which are all min charge.

did a quote for a small comercial job the otherday couple of hundred square m of low profile i was the only one who went and did a quote was one of 7 companies approached was told alot depended on price gave them my standard commercial rate ( why shouldnt I ) well goth job and when i finished i got payed ( unusual or acom job ) and was told i was the mot expensive by quite a bit but he valued th fact that how ould anyone give a clear indicatin of he en resul without seeing it first.

I know sometimes its dificult when busy to go out and see a prosp custy but you will get more work that way

i try to avoid price shoppers by saying its impossible to give an accurate price over the phone

I don't ring back, had 2 today, there is no loyalty with these p.s. You can do a blinding job
then next time their ringing round again.

You think I went through all that so they could get cheap car insurance  ;D

There not our custy's

Never ring back.

Just go round and see them.

Maybe thats why I convert 80% of calls into jobs?

How on earth can you tell the type of customer from a phone call. You are lucky they have left a message in the first place. Most when confronted with an answerphone would just hang up and move on to the next cleaner. I ring carpet cleaners everyday and I am amazed at how few I get to speak to. Whats even more strange is a lot don't even have a personal message on their answerphone. This is basic stuff. At least if you have a message saying this is such and such, your call is important to us you may have a slight chance of them leaving a message.
When people ring for carpet cleaning they often don't know what to ask apart from what it will cost.. This doesn't make them price shoppers and they could end up perfectly good and loyal customers.

Wayne

When I do quotes over the phone or face 2 face,I always ask for a mobile number. If I dont hear anything within 2 days I send a standard text message saying.

'Mr Smith,I visited your home on 5/5/10 to give you a quote for a Dralon Sofa cleaning. Please call me at your convenience, and I would be happy to book you in'

I do this with every quote I dont hear from, sometimes its works, sometimes it doesn't.I prefere to send a text because in my opinion it avoids the embarrassing telephone conversation

Hi all

I personally belive you should ring them back
as you dont know who is ringing you and you cannot tar them all
with the same stick.

i do ring them back and do convert some of them the second time round.

I personaly think it makes some of the coustomers feel valued
after all you paid for the advert for them to ring you in the first place

How bizzy are you lot that you when cant find the time to ring back
coustomers who want carpets cleaned.

I called the woman back and asked her if she was still interested and also to find out where she'd got my number from as I hadn't asked her........she told me from an advert in the local paper and also that she was sorted out with someone else, there's a cleaner advertises in the paper for a 3 piece suite at £45!!!!!  I presume shes gone with him as I was too dear.
I'm not competing with those prices

Hi Wayne

Noboby is asking you to compete with other peoples
prices.

I think its good business sence to call people back
if they have phoned  you in the first place

Put it this way when you are buying euipment and you are spending your time ringing around suppliers getting prices and seeing what
deals that you can get

do you not think that it would be good business sence  if some of them rang you back,
it gives the supplier a second chance to sell to you again
maybe give you a better deal

How many times have you heard of people going to buy a car
and the dealer rings the coustomer in a few days and sells the car then. Maybe all they needed was an extra push or friendly voice over the phone. dosent work all the time but dose bring in more jobs
