Welcome Ken.

I use a 3.5m 13 rung aluminium ladder-- it's good for most jobs but the odd house ( the big old houses) i struggle with at times.

Probably the 15 rung would be better, but obiviously the longer the ladder the more weight you're carrying around all day.

Scrims even if you've got the pre-washed ones you need to boil them in water for an hour or so.

Why don't you try microfibre cloth's (unger) then you won't need to use a chamois as not many people use them these day's.

For your ladder requirements go on Google & type in ladders you should get quite a few company's like ladderstore etc;

Ray.

I'm purchasing tomorrw, but can anybody just confirm if a 3.5m, extending to around 6.2m, will be ok for normal gutter/fascia work as well (using a stand-off), or whether I should go for the 3.9m which opens up to about 7.2m ?????????
I don't want to if possible, because of carrying the heavier weight.

Many thanks.

Make sure your ladders aren't cheapo ones from B & Q.  They must be BS EN 131 rated (it'll say this on the ladders and they'll have yellow feet).
