Been using a nationwide personal account for the last four and a half years. Had the letter informing me they'd picked up irregular activity fromthe amount of cheques but just carried on as per norm and it's never come up again since

I've spoken to the staff regarding this and their business account is of no use to me anyhow. They only accept 10 cheques per day.

Buy the girls on the tills a box of chocolates and some cream cakes at Christmas and I get away with sometimes 50 cheques per visit.

I've not lost any accounts because the accounts clerk who produces and sends the cheque complained to the boss that the window cleaner used a tatty personal account!

Remember, in big businesses, the person who contracts you will not be the person who sends you the cheque.  In fact in many instances, I send invoices off to head office, or a central paying office, in other parts of the country - and not to the establishment or the person who contracted me to clean their windows in the first place.

Its your appearance, your bearing, and of course the standard of your work that keeps the contract; not a bank account name.

I used to use nationwide personal account fir 5 years until they realised i used it for bbusiness because of the number of cheques i pay in, im now with santander business account and the first 100 cheques a month are free, and there are no other frees either.

As you take more and more payments by bank transfer, you should find that you need the bank to show you the reference number you supply to the customer.  Santander don't show this info - effectively leaving you to guess who has paid (surname and amount show so you should be able to track it).
However, bank transfers will increase and cheque numbers will reduce as we get nearer to the 2018 date when cheques are to be abolished.

I use a business account for recieved cheques to cover business direct debits & then transfer the remaining to my personal account.

Hi  to you all

I do use business and personnel accounts as like most do..but i do get bank transfer from customers accounts and some prefer standing orders so they feel in control more only four domestic customers likes using cheques..paypal payments are used more and they get transfer to either business or to personnel account.

But in four years the cheque will be no longer as it was said last year that they where getting rid of cheques within five years.
May use paypal more and just transfer into personnel account.
Its up to the individual what they would like to use.

Yes I think paypal and bacs could be the way forward within a few years.
