find out the payload mate.i should think youll need a 700-800kg payload.i few on here have the fiat doblo and use a 400 lt tank.i think the payload is 725kg on those.

i personally wouldnt put a 400 lt tank in anything less than a 700kg payload model of any van!im sure youll get plenty of replies on what some of the other guys use

ill be putting 300lt of water in my kangoo(mines a 625kg payload model)with a full tank of fuel/trolley/ladders/me ill be comfortably under.i wouldnt want to be putting anymore weight in thats for sure!!

i snapped the rear axle beam inside with no weight in the back!! ::) ::)still off the road!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
price higher/work harder!

get a bigger van and a bigger tank, unless you want to work part time like many on here ;D

tank and cage if it has one =450kg
driver =80kg
hose reel =25kg
petrol = 20kg ??
then there's ladder, pointer, ro system unless you've got static tank.
If there's 2 people then another 80kg.
I think you can just about survive with that van unless you have 2 people working.

as for the water, I've turned my flow right down. Using max 70ltrs p/h which means 400lts = just under 6 hrs solid pole work.

I went for the connect 230lx as it has 900kg payload. But then there are 2 of us with a 500ltr tank (one does outsides, one does insides so 500ltr is enough)

My "dream van" would be the vw caddy (04 shape) but payload is just over 800kg. Ideal for 1, not for 2.
I went for the 90hp version of the connect. It pulls really well, even fully loaded. makes the drive so much nicer.

you would survive with 600 payload but I agree with the others . . if you can, go for more . . it's worth it as you never know what new jobs you'll end up getting. If you're gonna fit a system in it, you don't want to be pulling it out and fitting it into a bigger van in 6 months time when you get that big job you've always wanted !!

Berlingo and peugeot I think both do an 800 payload. So does the vw caddy. Ford connect 220 has 825 payload or 230 has 900. So, plenty of choice out there  ;D

really ?? didn't really look into it cos they were £1k+ more than the connect. I just think they look nice inc. inside !!
I'm well pleased with the connect though. It really flies along. No problems on the motorway. more comfortable than the old t4 I went from. But yeah, if you got a load of water in the back then go for a turbo !!  ;D

i'd go with a transit connect lwb high roof 230 with 900kg payload, i had one of these as a hire van when someone crashed into mine and i thought it was mint!

i also thought about getting a vivaro but after driving and using the connect for a week no way would i get a big van now, i used a merc vito for a couple of days before i got the connect and i hated it, was way too big and awful on fuel,

I think for 1 operator the connect 230 is the ultimate van.
