filling tank in my van?
« on: May 09, 2010, 08:30:59 pm »
i have a large storage tank in the garden that holds 440 ltrs and also a 200 ltr water butt.
i live in a large old terraced house so my tanks are in the back garden and van is out the front.
my house is 75 ft long.
is there a way of filling it?
without obviously filling with 25 litre tanks?
cheers for any advice in advance.

the only problem you will come across, is not being able to see tank from where your static setup is sited, you will need some sort of tap on the end of your transfer hose ,

IMO that's always a good idea anyway.  The hose only needs to get knocked down below the top of water level and it will syphon.  A tap would stop that.  I've always used one myself.

Yer I got a tap on mine too, the weight of it means I can just drop it into tank, turn pump on via remote and carry on with other things  ;)

Transfer hose mate, from any aquatics, any size you want as you just cut the connectors down to size.

i presume i need 1 " hose?
so basically i meassure from my tank to my van?
give myself say a extra few metres?
if i was to fit a tap on the hose would i just cut pipe in half and then fit tap inbetween?
do you just run a pipe from transfer pump into my tank its coming from?or does it work from taps?
sorry for all the questions

If you get the transfer pump from gardiners this should fit into the tank, 1" hose will be fine, just cut the sections on transfer pump off that arent needed, push hose on, use clips to secure, then youll need 1" male to male adapter so you can join 2 hoses together and 2 more clips, then put tab on end with anothe clip,
you put tap at the end of the hose.
Ill take pics of mine later and email you them as ive done the same as you want to do, put your email address up  ;)

I got a transfer pump from wickes, and some hose local and a petrol pump/type tap (i DID HAVE A PETROL Trigger but the cold in the winter killed it off)
allin cost about £70

the pump chucks water out at 110L a min.
