Do flyers work? [yet again]
« on: August 17, 2005, 05:54:52 pm »
I know this subject has been aired here before – almost weekly it seems, [or should that be weakly, I wonder!]

I popped flyers through doors in a street in Stafford in mid-March.
I’ve had quite a few replies, in fact I cover most of the street now, and I don’t think there’s another W/C working those streets.

I received a telephone call this afternoon at about 2-30 from a lady who had kept my flyer and “Could I fit her in”.

The answer was “No, because the round is full, but all is not lost, I won’t let you down, you can go on the casual list which means that you call me when your windows need me, and I’ll come and sort them out for you. Just costs a bit more, that’s all”

“Fine, she said”, when I quoted her twice the normal price for that street, “When can you call?”

The moral? Flyers work for me, and work, and work, and work….

Not recently - been giving a good few out and not a murmer and before anyone says it, I know I should knock on the doors :-\
A couple of months ago I got a whopping 11 out of 20 from one street of town houses so that was great
I have a wad of commercial flyers but cannot see them being any real use so have taken to the phones, with some decent results
Might re jig the flyers so they are quicker to read with more impact :)

It's all about 'product (service) placement'  I find yellow pages works well for me..an average of 4 calls per week.  This is with a free lineage advert but with AMR I come top of the list and consequently the first call.

Door knocking worked well today, apart from the work being adjacent to existing customers (great), I brazenly used the line..'Your neighbour suggested you may have a need for a window cleaner'
taking panes to exceed expectations

Oh Bald One,
Stafford w/cer here, one of my customers moved to Stone, type of house dosn't suit me, WFP, but widows are sash, ok for a ladder man like yourself, only seen the front, but looks ok. Don't know your rates but if backs anything like the front then should be £10 min.
I know its naughty but if you go on (Mod; that is naughty; you can e-mail here if you display your e-mail).

I have had a right good result with some flyers this week, got a call from a lady a in a village a few miles away, didn't really want the job and tried to pass it on to no avail, so decided to do it myself.
The original call came via the yellow pages, last friday I put flyers through every door on the estate (a new estate with new windows!!), I stated on an attachment to my usual flyer that I would be working on thier estate thursday 18th and to call before  this date if you need a window cleaner, consequently I have a full days work there tommorow.

Good one marc al - that bit about giving them a deadline as to when you'll be there. Makes the dilly-dalliers do something about contacting you.
It's a game of three halves!
