Help a newbie with pricing !! please.
« on: August 01, 2005, 04:15:31 pm »
 Hi Guy's

Wondered if any of you guy's could help, I'm pricing a job in london at the minute, it's a big builders clean. I'm gonna have to price by the day and was just wondering what you guy's would charge per day for 2 men?
It's gonna involve a bit of cherry picking work and some of the scaffolding.

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

If it is you and a partner/ friend doing the work. Price on what you want to receive each day for working (£250 - £350 each); you will also need to build into the cost the cherry picker if this is hired. If it isn’t hired and you own it, charge £30 an hour for that. If it is your staff carrying out the work, charge their wages plus your normal profit margin. Also, add in 5% on top of the total price, to include blades, squeegee blades etc.

This is only a guide and everyone may price different, I would not be able to give you a definite price without looking at the job and seeing what is involved.

Also make sure you have a site visit and check all the windows first, incase any are scratched/ damaged, if you find them, point them out to the site manager, make a note of them and get him to sign a waver, stipulating you are not responsible for these windows. In addition, if they look fine and then when you start cleaning them, you find they are damaged in anyway. Stop work immediately and point these out to the site manager. Clean several in-front of him, so he can see the damage is already there and it is not down to your cleaning.

Hope this helps

Andrew

Hi 24-7

Thanks alot for your help - I really appreciate it as I could do with this job to fill up some space in our month and it may lead to more work. I think thats why I'm a bit worried about going in to high !!
been a bit lucky with the cheery picker as its already on site and they said we could borrow it for a couple of days. ;)
I tried to check the windows but they were very dusty and dirty but they look ok so I guess i'll play that by ear like you said.

Do you really think I can get away with £250-£350?(is me and a worker) may be it's me I usually do all flats outside of London this is my first job in the city, I know the prices were more expensive but wasn't sure how much, like I said this could lead to more work so I would hope to stay competative.

what you other guy's think?

Many Thanks

Rob

Hi Again Rob,

If you are certain it will lead to more work, drop the price, quote a wage you would like, add your workers wage to it, put a small percentage on top, say 20% and that could be your day rate.
