Hi, any thoughts on this as a starter unit http://cgi.ebay.ie/RO-REVERSE-OSMOSIS-WATER-FILTER-4-POLE-WINDOW-CLEANING_W0QQitemZ350301579194QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_HomeGarden_CLV_Cleaning_CA?hash=item518f99e7ba

Very similar to what I use. Except with one membrane you'll only get about 125 litres of usable water in 24 hours. Mine had two membranes on the top which gave me about 250 litres and last year I added an extra one and so get about 400L usable water in 24 hours which is ok for a one man band.

I also added an extra resin chamber as well.

You can get the membranes for £22.00 each plus vat from soap national.
It's a game of three halves!

the advert says it can do 100 gallons in a day???????

Is this true?

Maybe spend extra ton and get a merlin

That's what I run - well it looks like that anyway. Mains tap pressure at about 80psi.

I get about 400L usable in a day (24 hours). (Which is a fraction over 100 US gallons and rather less than 100 UK gallons a day)

you'll need 300gpd really,.. merlins are good if you have decent tap pressure but if your supply is below 50psi you're better off going for one of the others. A booster pump for a merlin is very costly!
