have decided to take my xtel pole apart and clean it as weather is crap, can i just was washing up liquid to get it clean, or will this cause problems?

God you must be bored
I flush mine out with a hose pipe and leave the sections standing upright on an old towel to dry out over night. If you leave moisture in the pole sections they'll stick together

u dont know how bored i am
in the end taken them all apart and just flushed out all the crap with the shower and left to dry
