Hi guys, have never done any real grubby houses as yet was wondering how you would price these work at £20 hr can usually estimate prices on normal cleans but don't want to burn my fingers also got MDR & OIL FLO.
Silly ? maybe but can you use these on leaded double glazing frightened leads may come unglued any tips on what to use on the builders cleans especially leaded,
 also cleaning materials.
keep coming across reddish brown spots on windows don't know what it is? and can't get off with chemicals mentioned, wont scrap off either any of you lot, any clues to what reddish brown spots are.

mate if its like the reddish brown spots i think ya talkin bout.its bees crap mate. Honest. Long but true story. One o my customers houses wa covered in in. They thought it might be human turd comin out of overhead planes(as they were on a flight path to heathrow) Anyways, some government department wa called in and the reddish brown spots ya know so well were analysed and turned out to be BEE crap.
Ya couldn't make it up could ya???

 :)the reddish brown spots will not scrape of do to the fact they are burnt into the glass by builders useing grinders which throw up red hot stone or metal bits when they are working near the glass you will not remove it by any means

Are they spots, like lumps or stains?  If they are raised from the glass they are from flies or bees, in which case they come off easier when the weather turns cold as they harden.  if stains they could be the stuff leeching out off the lead.  Usually milky white, but if imitation lead sometimes the glue they use leaks and runs.  Pain to remove.  Blame the fitters and say not possible. 
Remember that glass is eaten away if cement is left on it these days.  Chemicals they use are very corrosive.  Not much help.

would agree with Pete, those marks, caused by disc cutters etc, will never come off, you will just ruin the scraper blade! We come across this problem all the time on new builds.When pointed out, most site managers remember when it was done!

Would use gg3 on leaded windows(look through earlier posts)

There is no set 'hourly rate' for 'grubby' cleans, if it a days hard graft and you feel your worth,say £120 a day,charge that! Good luck.

hi there you'd be lucky to get in on sites just for the windows as these are all in the tender.

however i do know of window cleaners who work for build clean companies doing the windows, at  £2.50 per window per side, plaster and tape to sparkle finish.

Seems you have to determine what the spots are... Bee Poopy, fabricating debris, or burn marks caused by the scrapers. 

If the spots are caused by the manufacturer or the builders, you can recommend to the customer to get them replaced by the manufacturer or contractor, depending on whose fault it is. 

The customer might really appreciate the information, and you might succeed in helping them get their windows replaced and in getting a new, loyal customer for yourself.
