Hi Gaza
Dunno about the rags to riches story though. I'd hardly call what I had then as rags and as for riches................. Those are your words and not mine.
At the time I had applied for had been declared bankrupt (what a great great way to get rid of credit card debts) because months and months earlier I lost my job, which paid £31 000 p.a., and I could not pay the bills. My missus was going nuts at me. My bank account had been frozen by the court on account of a payout from an Industrial Tribunal. The DSS wouldn't pay me a penny because I had money in my account even though I couldn't access it.
I had a home and all that but no readdies. So me and a mate who had no money either decided to start window cleaning after a freind said he had some window cleaning stuff which turned out to be a lot different to what he'd described.
The ladder, you'll be pleased to know, was to dangerous to use and as we'd got a pile of waiting customers, we did their ground floor with a promise to come back the following week when we'd bought a ladder. That places a different slant on events as opposed to your posting of what you thought and guessed.
You need to get the whole story first or at least enough of it to make a judgement. There again, as per your posting, maybe you don't.
I don't know anything about your Grandfather and to use him to place some type of inuendo on what I posted stinks of how newspapers like the Sun tout for business with cheap associations, tacky headlines and misleading stories based on sensationalism and often with the facts missed out in favour out what sounds good.
Have you thought about being a journalist?
I started window cleaning just to earn enough to eat and buy a few beers with every intention to get a full time job at some point. Things went on from there.
Cheers
