Hide-a-hose

Just wondered if anyone knew how a hide-a-hose and seperate vac/solution hose compare performance wise.
Obviously the HAH is more convenient to handle and store but does it affect the suction drastically?  ???

Paul, the problem with the solution line been inside of the vac hose is.....

Dramatic loss of heat ATW.
Restriction of air flow.

We tried the Hide-a-hose system years ago with the truckmount, although there wasnt a big drop in air flow there was a MASSIVE difference in the heat.  I would estimate that the heat on a 100 foot length was at least 80 - 100 degrees lower so we ditched the idea.  If you are thinking of using the hide-a-hose on a portable running 1 1/2 inch vac hose forget it.

The only time I use a HAH is when doing sofas and chairs - gets a possible snag out of the way.

why is there loss of heat?
i would of thought there would be an advantage to the hot waste water running down the solution pipe and acting as insulation.

The passing air carries the heat back to the recovery tank.

 I can't understand the heat loss either, I've ran 100ft of solution hose through snow and ice without it effecting the water temp too much. how can the rush of waste water and air lower the temp more than this?

It doesn't affect the suction, and has no apparent affect on
air flow. The temp only drops at the wand if you don't spray for a while.
I've used 20 metres on my Powrflite, with very little temp' drop. But as
i said if you stop spraying the temp' will drop dramatically.
Whilst spraying the water is only in the pipe for about 5 - 10 seconds.

You should have no problem with heat loss if you place a bucket near to you and trigger into it for 10-15 seconds the water temp drops when sitting in the hose.

DONT KICK THE BUCKET :P :P

I have 50ft of hide a hose through 2" vac and the heat isn't an issue but it does lose vac but the convinience out ways the loss IMO.
