« on: June 28, 2005, 09:27:21 pm »
Just been asked to clean car wash screens, the problem is that they have never been done before and as such are thick with what I believe to be calcium ? (water stains) help in what to use would be welcomed.

thank you in advance

People will tell you not to use it but I have used it yesterday on lime and cement coated windows, sills & frames - Brick Acid.

They look like new!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be very carefull using any type of acid, dont use in the sun
the windows will definately go blind.
Try using a soft pad and scouring powder (do a small test first)
Using acid on a car is definately heading for a disaster (metalic paint will
love it).
What you could try is a limescale product for the bathroom; as these
have inhibators (prevent chrome etc. being damaged).
But as said always doe a test in a small area.

Reading the original post cars arent being cleaned.

Tarmac are a substantial nationally recognised company and it was they who told me to use brick acid on their windows.

There is no damage to any part of the window unit. As previously stated the whole units look like new.

Woodley - why will the windows go blind in sunlight.

Yesterday in the quarry when I cleaned the windows it was 28 degrees with the sun full on them.

The windows were properly rinsed.

Gone back today and there is no problem
