SIZE OF POLE
« on: June 17, 2005, 10:39:06 am »
The system I may get has 7 x 6ft sections.  Would I need a smaller pole then 6ft for bottom windows??

The poles are aluminium, is that OK??

Someone else said that the other disadvantage was the battery life, small hose, brushed too large for domestics so the got a leisure battery, longer hose and vilkan brush.

Do you agree these are disadvantages so should I buy these three extra's.

I was using a 24ft. ( 6x4), switching to a 4ft. (2x2 ) for residential work. I've just bought a fibre glass 18ft (6x3). Major step forward. It covers the vast majority of residential work, reaches third storey, but is not too awkward for ground floor. One pole, no switching, except very occassionally, when I still need the 24ft.
Only other comment is that I don't know anything about this Aqua trolley, but my advice would be not to buy anything that is presented as a 'system' just right for you sir !. Buy piecemeal & very tentitively. Youd'e be surprised how little you really need to spend to have all that you need.
Personally, I'm still perplexed why anyone buys a trolley. It's neither one thing or the other. Iy's not a van mount & not practical in truth to get in & out of most cars umpteen times a day. Plus most are too expensive for what they are. My advice, build your own.

i find the Trolley / cart system great, i have a passate estate car and it works a treat

its hardly in and out all day though, but then again i have a good round thats been built up over the years (not by me i might add, by the chap B4 me), so i park up in the morning, work along the street, at lunch time i leave my stuff around some1 rear garden, then go and move the car to where i expect to finish, have a bit to eat, change the battery and away i go again

jobs a good un

i built me own

That's about the only circumstance where a trolley comes in to it's own, but then, if you built your own, are we talking 25 ltr. type set up?. It's these 50 - 70 ltr. things that bug me. Most just sit in the vehicle. I have an operative who broke a wheel on his & just took the other off. It's now a 50 ltr. van mount. Would have been a lot cheaper to just buy that in the first place.

25 L :)

it gets used like this

park under the middle of the front of the house, pipe long enough to do a average 4 bed front of the house

move cart to middle of the rear of house, clean

walk back around the front (by this time the water has stopped dripping), do downstairs the traditonal way

walk around the rear, do downstairs traditonal way
wheel cart and carry pole around to front

knock on door for payment

walk to next house

i will normally get 4 houses out of a barrel

when barrel empty, leave kit around rear and go and get a new un, which is handy in the summer as i then get a drink out of the car fridge

hi salmon
leasure battery, longer hose, would make it all a bit easier and i plan to make those changes myself sometime but for now i am managing well enough, and as for the brushes i have not had a problem in five weeks and my work is all domestic.

I'm getting Aqua trolley system and this is 6ft x 7 sections so smallest section is 6ft.  Is that your smalles t section and if so, don't you find that too large for dn strairs??

Salmon: I would do upstairs only first by pole let the customer see that after two cleans the benefit of cleaning with wfp, saves you moey [water] gives the customer a choice wfp or finding another window cleaner.

Let me assure you doing downstairs trad method is the best way ,cus they would be looking out of spotty windows for 1st clean at least, when they see what you told them is right about the top windows[most people dont observe the top windows] like they do the bottoms. they will know what to expect and be reasured eveything is going to be fine

exactly my thoughts

the downstairs are allways inspected well

i also think, if you do WFP upstairs and down a 3 bed house will take you less than 10 mins, 8 quid for 10 mins work, the older folks would have a heart attack, at least by just doing upstairs your on-site for a little more
