I'll work for a week for free!!!
« on: July 17, 2005, 11:34:01 am »
Firstly I must comment on the fact that you lot seem nice people and I'm glad I found the forum because all I kept hearing from friends and family was "window cleaning no point in trying that, its all sewn up!!".....well having read more than a few posts on here it seems that there is enough work to go around and I'm sick of my Job.

I'm basically offering my labour in return for a weeks training. I am primarily interested in learning how to operate and use a WFP system as this seems to be the future of WC.....I'm not trying to start an argument with that comment!!

I'm based in Essex (34 years old if that matters!!) but am willing to travel (within reason) and graft.
I wont be aiming to undercut anyone and will be canvassing for my own new business when I am ready to start, I'm not looking to tread on anyones toes or steal other peoples work.

all help welcome, available from 25th JUlY. please email me at gsw100@hotmail.com

If you're in Essex, why not give Steve (UBA1) a try.  He's recently started using WFP, he's seriously fast on traditional window cleaning, and he's not so far from you in Suffolk.  He may even be able to sort out some work for you as he sells rounds too (I think he offers payments by instalments if you haven't got the money up front).
I'm not trying to advertise, just passing on genuine info.

gsw:you can surround yourself with neg people,untill one day you go for it.BECAUSE YOUVE HAD SO MUCH NEG VIBES YOU ACTUALLY ACHIEVE WERE YOUR GOING, AND THEN THOSE WHO GAVE YOU NEG VIBES WANT A LIFT IN YOUR NEW CAR,SIT ON YOUR NEW SOFA,DRINK YOUR BETTER WINE ETC ETC AND ARE PROUD OF YOU. SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE WHO WIN THE LOTTERY[BILLY NO MATES ALL THEIR LONELY LIVES THEN EVERYONES THEIR MATES}

Just remember Rome wasnt built in a day. you will have many sleepless nights as well,SO MY SUGGESTION IS WORK AT WEEKEND  till you have at least 3 days work a week, then throw a few sickies until your sacked, but before your sacked have a note to give your resignation just before they drag you in the office for the final time ;D

wishing you good luck on your trip up the independant rd

thanks for the positive feedback, have decided (on reading more about it ) to go traditional to start with as being new and WFP taking 2 or 3 cleans to get a good result might end up losing me customers I have only just managed to get!!!

SO I'M CHANGING THE OFFER OF A WEEK TO 1-2 DAYS FOR ANYONE WITHIN REASONABLE DISTANCE TO SHOW ME THE TRADITIONAL METHOD THEY USE.....I'LL CARRY THE BUCKET AND BUY A BEER AT THE END OF THE DAY.

GSW

Stick with the wfp method if thats the way you will be going when you are setup and running.

The reasons for this are

When you get your new wfp system you will still have to learn how to get the best results from it and this takes time, your customers who are used to you doing it the old fashioned way will see a difference and they will moan if the job is not up to standard.

When you move over to wfp it is still going to take up to 3 cleans to remove all the chemicals that you have put on the windows over the last few months.

Some customers just don't like change, so when you turn up with your new shiney wfp system, they will not be moved that you are doing a good job as you were when you did it the trad way.

There is a saying "Start as you mean to go on".  This saying works so why try to fix it.

When I first started, I started the wfp way and although it has not been easy all the time, it is now working perfectly.

sall i shant i . how many times did i ask myself that. after 4 months wfp im just getting to grips with it.despite the headaches its the right move to go wfp.ive lost customers which i had for years, but yet new customers dont have a problem at all .and you get a better price.id say go wfp from day 1 dont make it harder than it has to be .

Eddie, top man for offering, I have been offered another opportunity which I'd be mad to turn down right now. But I'll put the offer on the back burner if I may! Because as I am fast finding out you never know what is round the corner. Thanks again.
