which vac

hi, i have got to get my carpets shampooed, i have got a 2 and 4 year old and 2 labradors, on a cream carpet, so you can imagine what they are like

what vacuum cleaner do you recommed i buy, so i can get as much of the dirt out as poss, before i get some one in to shampoo

You are right to think about getting a good machine for yourself, but remember that any good carpet cleaner should vac your carpets before they do the cleaning.

Most of the guys here will recommend SEBO.  They do domestic and commercial ranges.  I would suggest a SEBO Dart (the commercial version of the SEBO Felix but cheaper).  I think they may do a "Pet" version of the Felix.

You might also think about Lindhaus but make sure you are sitting down when you see the price.

DO NOT go for bagless machines.  The bag is part of the filtration system and it contains the dust/debris for you when emptying (rather than blowing in your face as you go to the dustbin).

haven't carried my upright vac since having the TM.  Still have the cylinder for the odd fluffy jobs and upholstery.

A pro carpet cleaner shouldn't ever tell you to pre-vac before they arrive, it's part of the job (or not worth it if your equipment is up to it)
