Domain names
« on: November 23, 2009, 09:50:46 am »
Hi all,

I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to website building but am looking at trying to build a couple of websites.  With this in mind i'm thinking i need to get the domain name right first, so can anyone tell me if there is any actual advantage regarding google rankings etc if I have 'carpetcleaning' followed by my area as the actual domain name i.e. carpetcleaningtimbuktu.co.uk

Would this help at all in the rankings for people searching in my area?  If so, should some of the words in the domain be seperated by hyphens or should it be all in one.  Also should it be 'carpretcleaner', 'carpetcleaning' or 'carpetcleaners' followed by the area?

The above would be in addition to a seperate website with my business name within the domain name.

I'd be grateful for any advice and any other tips.

Cheers
Martin

Hi

Unlike me you should always have 'carpetcleaning' followed by your area then .co.uk

If you email me I can email you a pdf book with all the info you need. It is big tho at nearly 20mb!

My address is aquakleenquery@gmail.com

P.S. What area are you in?
