What a mess
« on: November 10, 2009, 10:43:18 pm »
My round is in at the moment  :'(
I've lost so many days in the last three weeks with the bad weather that I just don't know where to begin. I have so much work stacked up at the moment and a lousy forecast for Thursday, Friday and Saturday....................... I've lost the will to live.

I went that way for a good few months, caused bad depression. :'(
I couldn't see that I was so far behind that everyone on the book was pretty much behind.
Draw a line under it. start again, just appologise for the weather throwing you off.

It's just a job, but It will make you sick if you let it. ;)

time to add a rain guarentee  maybe ?

if it makes you feel any better, I have for the past few days had a trapped nerve in my back or shoulder or neck, painful to move to the point is bringing me to my kness, feel great when rain hits you in the face and unable to wipe it off due to pain lifting hand up to wipe it.  But on the plus side have to thank Alex G for sending my slx pole back, yesterday half killed me, and today was cleaning with one arm and one finger  ;D
Can rest again on sunday night  ;D

don't want to go down the old trad vs wfp route, but seems to me that wfp leads to back/neck/trapped nerve probs?am just asking because am just starting out and don't want to end up not being able to work/live properly because of these type of problems, whats your views?

wfp does, but it is slower, ladders can break you or kill you in a second, either way it will get you this window cleaning lark aint all that people make it out to be.  ::) ::)

we have these issues because we work like hurricanes.Work in a more relaxed manner and you will be fine.

Of course once you start it's like a dance that pulls you in and gets faster and faster. We don't work through pain because we want too, it's because of the dough.

I like the pain, I thought it was part of window cleaning, this is what my wife said to me, get up off the floor, you go to work or your having no dinner, she did help me off the floor this time which was nice, but slamming the door on me when I was try to hobble of the step I though  a bit much, to top it off I get home soaked and crawling up the path, only to find a note at the bottom of the door, frankie and benny are making us dinner tonight at 7:30 I though it would be nice for me to put it this low so you could read it.

im a week behind and worked in the rain all day today till it got dark.just accept that u have no control of the weather and do the best u can and work in the rain some days even if its  just 3 or 4 hrs.i see my week between monday 9pm til saturday 4pm and have a rough target to earn so much etc. within that time.dont allways reach it but i can always pay my bills so i just have to be happy with that some weeks.acceptence is the key and work hard when its fine! ;).swings and roundabouts.rough with the smooth.no point moaning about it!.most custys have more important things to worry about than clean windows!DOWNTIME IS PART OF THE JOB!GET USED TO IT IN WINTER!

BEST WISHES DAZMOND
price higher/work harder!

Just stop....re-boot...start.

As for injuries...I now see a chiropractor every 8 weeks for a check-up and click session.  We do tend to work and brush far too much I believe, I certainly used to.

My cure was to re-jiggle all my work so that I only have a certain amount of work per day...which is far easier on my body as I do not feel so stressed about finishing it all and doing it well. So the stress combined with scrubbing far, far to hard is a major factor in injuries I believe.

Being realistic about daily targets is key...trouble is alot of us I think are/were in the Famin - Feast style of working which when you're working really hard you are affecting your body..so better to spread the work out more evenly.

Cheers Dave...

ps. Be extra nice to someone today for no reason whatsoever.

hi ian
try  hanging from a bar this stretches all the muscles an can release the nerve, another good exercise to release trap nerve and cure sciatica is to stand with feet shoulder width apart twist upper body to right and hold in that position for a few seconds before doing the same to thhe left side do this for about 10 minutes.
the reason a lot of wfp users suffer from these complaints is the lack of stretching before starting work and by not building up the right muscles for this type of work also by poleing at very unatural angles for the body.

i hope you are allright soon but if not let me know then i can come and canvass all your work ;D ;D

what with the rain etc etc, i doubt your customers really care, they will see you when they see you

how many calls have you had recently from your customers asking where you are and why are you late ? ? ? ? ?

keep in mind, they are only clean windows, its not really that important, despite when some on here think
