VW transporter owners
« on: October 30, 2009, 09:27:03 pm »
I am looking at buying a 2003 "03" vw transporter 2.5tdi , i think it is the first of the T5's but not sure but the bloke who is selling has no idea of payload and says he cant see reference to it anywhere on the paperwork ,
do any of you VW owners know how to find out the payload on these vans?

Matt,on the log book,under 'model/type',its should say whether its a T26,T28,T30 or T32.

This was first reg'd April 03 but it is 2461cc and not 2460cc and  looking on Parkers web site only the T4's are 2461cc and T5's 2460

What model number related to payload in the T4?

They don't do a 2.5 with a T26 payload,so its a T28 or above.Theres no info on payload on the advert so i'd have a look at the logbook Matt or if your lucky then it might say on the back of the van.

you want to find out if the belts have been changed, as 99 K they were due a while ago

03 t4 must be worth 4 K in todays market, £3,850 +VAT is a touch too much

Does the T28 , T30 models relate to the T4 and the T5?

i had a 98 t4 lwb 1200 meaning it will take 1200kgs, they also do a 1000 & 800

mine had 1200 on the log book, but if your hasnt you maybe able to work it out from gross vehicle weight minus the vehice weight

Hi i run a VW T4 1.9 TD, S reg and i think it a great van they are not to big i thought it would be under powered but it seems to be ok, perhaps if i had a lot of weight in it ,it may struggle abit i bought it for £700 with a gearbox problem but repaired it myself. My brother runs a 2.5 TDI t4 but that seems to use alot of fuel, mine doesn't seem bad on fuel at all mine is the 1000 model.
