cheek of some people
« on: October 27, 2009, 02:04:15 pm »
got up sat moen and there was a wc van just near my house thought nothing of it, a few hours passed and he was still there, turns out he was doing next doors, windows, fascias, doors, con  basically everthing out side, at least a 120 quid job,  got chatting with him, as i thought he was her usual window cleaner, as she says she has one, but i have never seen him in 8 months, he said got a  call last week to come do this job, thougth fine,  then yesterday, she asked me if i had any work for her son as he is skint and need to earn some money,  told her sorry taking a week off,

seems to think i am not good enough to do her windows but i can give her son a job,

any one else got neighbours like this

Yep I can see how that would be annoying...onwards and upwards as they say....what you want to do is wait about 3 weeks and then in passing mention that you have become so busy that you have had to take on a couple of staff ;D

"seems to think i am not good enough to do her windows but i can give her son a job"

Hi,

Why must you assume for no good reason that she thinks you are not 'good enough' for her?  ???

Maybe she knows that she's a fussy so-and-so and would not be able to make a fuss so readily if the window cleaner lived next-door.

Maybe she was worried that you would do her  a 'special price' and that she'd not want to be thought of (by you and the neighbours et al) as patronising you for a discount. One of my best clients owns a cafe and i have never once been in it because i neither want nor want to be thought of, as wanting a 'favour'.

Maybe she thinks that SHE is not good enough for YOU and that you only deal with people out of her league.

Personally, i'd be pleased that my neighbours didnt want me working for them, for all the reasons that have been mentioned here. There is a lot to be said for not mixing the old work & pleasure thing. That and something about doing something on your own doorstep. Etc.
