Depends on how high you intend to go.
I have found the best type to buy is the 4 meter double section ladder from wicks. Its cheap and you can take the sections apart. If for instance you want to go 2 levels i.e ground, 1st, 2nd then this ladder would just about do the job. If you are on a normal domestic house then you just take of one section and use that all round.
It takes a while to get all your windows figured out this way but I have found it better than getting a double section 3 meter as I hate keep lifting it up and down on each window.

I have 3mtr trade double, 3.5mtr pointer double and 4 mtr domestic double ladders and find the best one for most jobs is the 3.5mtr the 3 mtr is a bit short for some jobs and the 4mtr is a bit tall for others the 3.5mtr for me is the perfect size.
But when i use ladders i only go up 1 floor used to go higher but i find it's not worth risking you neck going any higher than 1 floor.

I bought 4.55m double ally pointers recently and they are really a bit big except for the odd highish window - and they don't come apart :-[ On the upside my arms are less Olive Oil more Popeye ;D
