Hi All,
Just been round to see a fella that got a little excited last night when england scored and sent his curry flying all over the lounge carpet, the missus was not impressed he tells me
Carpet is 100% synthectic but the doughnut has only used a load of vanish on it and scrubbed into pile
So my question is what is my best chance of removing this if any. Have noted from my book that maybe red rx or is that best used on red stains only. If you guys have any other methods please let me know.

Hi Coyote

I would first sprinkle some defoamer on the stain and then rinse out. That should get rid of the vanish. My next step would be to try some citrus gel (then rinse) if not then try prochem solval (rinse), if you don't have any of this try white spirit (or POG)

Probably won't come out but you have at least exhausted your options (unless the carpet is white of course, then it would be easy with sodium met)

Rinse well with cold water,Apply Solvex then rinse, then apply stain pro and rinse again. Yellow colouring is the hardest to remove.

Just remember to play down expectations of a successful removal so that the problem stain on the carpet remains their problem at all times and that you don't take ownership of it.

Of course, if you can remove it then all the glory will be yours!

Tumeric in curry is used as a dye and will set with heat, so do not hot water extract,

Funnily enough its not a very good dye and fades in light, I have known carpet cleaners in the past place an ultra violet light over the stain and its been removed to a hefty degree ,I have not done this myself but I can see the logic.

If the customer has attempted removal, he's blown it ,you will not remove it and I would emphasise the point before you start that you are only attempting a removal at his request but the chances are slim. I would not waste too much effort or solutions on it just make a token attempt at removal on a small section of the stain.

Its probably an insurance claim anyway and he will want a new carpet.

Funnily enough I have come into possession of some spotters from the U.S. today (courtesy of Mr Liahona) that claim to remove mustard and tumeric etc. They work by changing the molecular density. I'll let you know how I get on but everyone in the the States use this range apparently.

that EXTREME! carpet cleaner is better than dare I say it Utlra pack , no scent , No foam etc etc .

I would certainly be interested in trying any chemical which can remove yellow staining, it is the 'holy grail' of stain removal.

It will be good to see Paul in April, he is a knowledgable bloke.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did the job on saturday and I was honest and said the chances of removal was very slim but he said to go ahead and try. Hardly any difference afterwards and felt a little guilty taking £40 sheets off the fella but I suppose these things happen from time to time. Looks like he will be contacting the insurance company and will now have a permanent ban from eating curry in the front room again

I know how you feel when you say you felt a little guilty taking his money BUT you were honest with, told him success is limited and ho choose to say yes, go ahead.
So dont feel too guilty, you did everything right.
