WTF is going on.
Last thing I ordered took 3 calls over several weeks before deliver, now I ring up for a part I need urgently I have to give details which is pass on and then someone will ring me back, 4 hours later- no call- ped off.
I  ring again and still the same crap service, someone will ring me back. They used to be on the ball, what happened? Why has a first class service become so bad?

I hate bad service,

Has ALLTEC been taken over in the past year or so I can't imagine Robert Saunders allowing this to happen, they built a good reputation over many years for good service.

Or is this a sign of the times with everyone reducing their inventory to zero ?

I like the team at Alltec.

I had a problem earlier this year where I waited about three months for part of an order. I chased up several times but was advised that the delay was down to a supply issue from the States. The real annoyance at the time was that all money was taken at the time of the order but receipts only sent for items sent. This was a pain with my accounts.

All back ordered parts eventually got to me, along with a complimentary box full of their chemicals.

So, there was a problem and they dealt with it in a way that left me feeling that they were genuinely apologetic. I was happy and will continue to use them as and when.

For any supplier, lowering stock levels and even working with zero stock can be a sensible move in these cash strapped times. Doing so when said stock comes from the States with lead times in excess of one month, especially when orders have to be of a certain value, is a bad business.

Before placing an order I now call and check stock availability.

Ian,
Had same prob last Nov, got my part about 5 month later, well they dismantled a sprayer to give me my part as it was stuck in customs (note: bits I ordered from usa arrived at my home in 16 days, not 5 months). I have had to ring several times ever time I need something, or speak to someone.
Now I am not knocking Alltec, as I have used them from their 1st year of business and Robert Saunders is one of this industry greatest, having done more for more cc companies than any other supplier, (yes its not just about selling stuff), but in this last year something is not running smooth.
Shame cos they are a great company with a good staff.

a few months ago I telephoned them and ask for a quotation on CC Mchine for a complete package.

Gave all the details to them, but they never sent the quotation accross. We spent at least 20 minutes on the telephone. But no quotation arrived so purchased else where and saved a fortune!

i bought an electric sprayer from them when they were on sale price prob was it was faulty when arrived sent me a replacement right away and sent faulty one back. only thing that annoyed me was i kept getting a bill for the replacement one for months. more communication needed by departments needed wouldnt be too confident in buying anything too important from them

Never had any problems with them myself, only help and good service. I know they are busy at present, so maybe they are a bit short staffed. I know they downsized the workforce earlier this year due to the economic climate.

ordered tile and grout package, they said i would have it in 10 -14 days got part of the gear almost four weeks latter ,still waiting for an item ,I was told they would send me some freebies ,never did.
I attempted three times to get in touch to ask about tile and grout ,thing is the booklet price, online price and the actual quote price were totally different.
The last item I ordered was a t/m/ inline filter,I was quoted £120 over the phone and orderd one then saw the online price was £90 ish I called her back and she sorted it , watch out

What happened about The Extragavanza thought it was an all day all night thing about two weeks ago.

Got an email saying it is now on at end of month
