cleaning equipment
« on: September 25, 2009, 09:06:52 pm »
Hello,

Quick question if anyone could drop me a quick response to confirm how I should wash scrims and applicator sleeves (and how often).  Can they be done on a normal 40 wash?

Cheers
Mike

I think they used to say to boil wash scrims on the first wash until they're soft enough. After that just a quickwash on 40 degrees with no powder as they've picked up enough detergent. Top grade Scrims seem to be softer nowadays though.  I used to wash my scrims quite frequently.

Dont add softener and dont tumble dry.

Applicator sleeves I used to do on 40 degrees also in the same wash. Do it too often though and you'll spin the life out of them and it won't hold as much water. Just do it when it's really dirty. And wash the grooves of the t-bar if you have any.

And I'd convert over to good sized microfibre clothes.

Hope that helps.

wash the scrim heap once per week, all on their own , and just hang them out to dry  i  never tumble dry them .

iv never washed an applicator sleeve yet, no point as itll only shorten its life . lately iv been using a Lidl balcony scrubbing mop,on my WAGTAIL  and it is still not changing its colour ,weird material

All cloths washed at the end of the day - small amount of powder - no softner  40 degree

tumble dry ready for next day  ( no scrim - just microfibre )

Washing the applicator makes a great deal of difference.

The cleaner the water and applicator, the better dirt lifts from the glass, and less likely to leave blade marks and smears/streaks.

Just blasting the dirt out with hose pipe works well, esp if you can get a flat fan jet type to push the dirt out of it.

You'll se it change colour, and it feels so quick on the glass!
