Non slip decking???
« on: September 23, 2009, 03:45:25 pm »
Since my little accident on decking, been wondering if there would be any call for a "non slip decking treatment".

Do any of the pressure washing guys offer this?  I think that could be a goer!!!

have saw something on one of my custy shouse they have on theirs. Not exactly sur ewhat it is but they have it on the steps. it's looks like some type of plastic strips which are rough textured. Also know people to put some wire mesh ov rit but creates bigge rproblems when frosy

always use tow ladder mats on decking to get extra grip, I hope your accident wasn't too bad.

Dont put ladders on decking, it doesnt get any simpler mate.

I in now way mean to be critiscising or nit-picking, but if you use a ladder on decking and the ladder slips (which it WILL, sooner rather than later most likely) and you fall off, paralysing yourself your insurance company wont wear it when you say

'Well, JSMC said it WOULD be okay to put some damp cloths down guv..........!'

I have used ladders on marble, decking, and stone chippings with ladder mats and have had no problem but I don't like the wet cloth idea, that sounds iffy, but then again I haven't tried it so..

A damp scrim does work just fine though I wouldn't vouch for it if there is ice about.
I carry pieces of rubber matting in the van to lay over the hose piece that links the van with the reel.  I just lay one of those on the decking and put the ladder on that.  As I use WFP I have only a couple of jobs where I do this to get onto flat roofs.

i carry a soft  rubber bath mat   to use on decking ,and place ladder as near vertical as safe to do  plus jam the ladder hard under the sill edge .

No its not summin I offer.. It doesn;t last very long anyway - its will soon go green once treated.

You really need wire over the wood to help prevent slip.
