Not today I'm decorating the bedroom.
Not today - i haven't done the insides yet.
Not today - you stuck all my windows shut with that stuff you put in the water!
Don't come back - you made my garden furniture wet
Not today - you filled my double glazing units up last time.
Not today - i've got an old radiator down the side
Not today it's Christmas week
Not today - i've got friends coming round.
Not today - they are still clean

All genuine.

Some of the above plus:-

Miss out that window - my son's home from university and still asleep (this when I'm wfp and at 2pm!).
I've just paid for the vet's bill and can't afford it. (On a two-monthly £7 job a few years ago)
Can you come back in a couple of hours I'm eating my lunch?

And the best? (Or worst) When helping a mate out with his round:-

"You've got the wrong house!" - and the guy is a naturist, stood there in a panama hat, open toed sandals and todger on display.

It's a game of three halves!

If someone said any of those, i wouldn't go back.

My words would be "you cant be serious?"

I prefer the possible real excuses.. "sorry i cant afford it"..

understandable, and nothing you can say really.

....a private house...what...it was a big good one...but a private house????

I've had
"The weather forecast says it's going to rain hard tomorrow" (it was a sunny afternoon but the forecast was actually correct).
"We are having our tea"
"She's not in"

All dumped.

Oh yeah.  There was one in a town a few miles away who cancelled because they wanted a "local" window cleaner.  I had been living in the same town but moved away (just 8 miles).  It reminded me of a comedy sketch on a program whose name escapes me (some odd couple who ran a shop and used to bump off visitors to the area).
