Fiberglass in hands off WFP

Have you had splinters of fiberglass in hands off WFP, I got a spray can of top coat clear lacquer and sprayed the pole with 3 coats. And this has solved the problem.

Will the lacquer adhere ok to the pole? I mean, it won't flake off or anything? What kind of lacquer do we need to use?

I bought it from Halfords, the clear laqurer for the top coat for respraying cars, It will eventualy wear I would think, but I will repeat as required.

I wear yellow gripper gloves
You can hold the pole with ease,and your hands don't get dirty when reeling in the hose plus you don't pick cuts up when the hose has been resting on resanded block paving
