How do the big franchise companies like Chemdry or Servicemaster opperate ?


Are they free to price a job independantly or do they have strict guidelines ?

After the initial outlay of buying a franchise do they then pay a percentage of each job to the franchisee ?

Any other outlays to your franchisee per anum ?

Free to price how you like on residential or commercial work that is self generated. That includes any enquiries that have been passed to you via head office, such as been on the label of a sofa. You tend to find that there are regional differences in prices. You pay around 10% in a fee per job and a general advertising fee based on your turn over.

Some try and stick to fire and water damage work (more money) some do both and some just clean carpets, hard floors etc.
Anything through head office, like insurance work, is on pre agreed rates with insurance companies so priced on a matrix, usually good rates. Costs for cleaning carpets are probably comparible to any decent independant + VAT.
Although CD are usually more as they have lots of insurance work, they may quote 250 for a suite clean, might not get lots but who cares if you get make decent money sticking dehums into houses.

Hamilton, so the frachisee only pays a % to the franchisor if its passed down from head office? i.e. insurance work, main website etc? and all work coming from adverts and the franchisee's own efforts are royality free? thats more fair than i thought then.
