Low pressure from power washer
« on: August 23, 2009, 09:34:51 am »
Sorry if this is wrong forum - feel free to move.

When I started out in April I bought a new, but cheap, 5.5hp, 2100psi, 7.5l pm pressure washer. To say i've had my money back is an understatement - it's earned me a good bit of money.

In using it to clean the van yesterday I found that the pressure of water from the usual nozzle (around 20 degrees) wash noticably lower. The troubleshooting guide said to check oil levels, which I did. I topped up to be sure, but it made no difference.

It has the facility to draw from a water butt or similar. When I tested it on this it was back up to full pressure, so you'd think low water pressure or flow from the outside tap. This however is a 2 bar and flow seems normal. No washing machine on or similar. The hose from outside tap was not blocked or kinked.

Has anyone an answer to my problem? Can the pumps on these machines be adjusted? This is the machine http://www.activlisburn.com/shopping/detail/200357919697-4132.html or this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PETROL-PRESSURE-WASHER-5.5HP-ENGINE-POWERFULL-2200-PSI_W0Q...

I don't want to buy another (better) machine as this one has been fine thus far for my needs.

Cheers
