Just seen this hose set up on the history channel.

This is similar to the brass twist together connectors that I use on my four sections of 2 inch hose for filling up the drain jetter.

Feel these might be much better suited to our usage as they cannot be pulled apart.

My dad bought some for the garden recently but having looked at them in detail as far as I can see there is no benefit to using them and indeed there would be some downsides to using them.  There is no shut off mechanism on either side, there is no locking mechanism so if you caught one of the lugs and the fitting twisted it would come undone and they would only be suitable for in-line connection for 1/2" hose to 1/2" hose, a connection that not many of us need.

I didn't realise that they didn't do the full range.

I thought similar, although those brass twist together things are better.
