Do you think this is a good idea.
« on: May 19, 2009, 08:45:31 pm »
Just had a look at a web site with a bloke useing a pole type thing to clean a conservatory roof, the water is fed to the top of pole by a recoil hose, could this be used for wfp window cleaning .
i use a water fed pole and the small hose that comes out at the base of the pole is a pane to drag about and with the tap on it too makes things a bit hard .
would it be possible to fix tap to the  pole then to this recoil hose ..what do you think..            [or am i thinking too much agian ]

interesting... but it may defeat the object of buying light weight poles.  ;)

yes but if you could get a small diamtre re coil hose to fit inside a wfp  all you would need is a tap fitted to the base of the  pole plug your micro bore or what ever in to tap  and away you go.

I tried to incorporate this idea into the Super-Lite pole, a self-retracting coil around the outside of the pole.  Very quickly we hit some snags.  First of all there was the weight issue that whatever length of pole you were using you were supporting the full weight of hose, coiled around the sections.  The other problem was even the highest quality hose soon lost its memory and wouldn't recoil enough to be practical.  I thought it would be a good idea too, but it turned out to be a dead duck.

what if it was inside the pole , it would only need to be coiled in the first part of the pole wich would the strech out as the pole is exstended.

what if it was inside the pole , it would only need to be coiled in the first part of the pole which would the stretch out as the pole is extended.

The internal diameter of the top section of most poles is only about 19mm which is far too narrow to coil anything in.

Looks a nice product but I would imagine it will stretch no more than 3-4ft and it weighs about 450g.  Multiply this by a 20ft pole and you've got something that's heavier than the pole.

It is a good thought and we need to think outside of the box to make progress with anything.  Having gone down this route myself and purchased similar items, I just couldn't make it work for my application.
