Dry Before We Leave
« on: April 20, 2005, 06:55:26 pm »
This could be a really stong selling point BUT how could it be achieved using HWE on carpets.  Could be achieved with Texatherm or similar and a fan but I have never got to grips with it on residential carpet.

Anyone advertise this and how do you achieve it.

thanks
Mark

The general public are usually under the inpression that the carpet will be wet for a certain amount of time after you leave. If you market yourself that the Carpets are dry when you leave you should build that in to your price, as it will slow you down on jobs.
I market myself the same with Upholstery and you will be supprised how many times that can be the deciding factor as to wether you get the job or not ;)

Even lm systems are not dry after cleaning but some are dryer, damp meter tells the whole truth and nothing but the truth!

I recon most advertise quick drying me included but if questioned on this, I give an estimated time due to weather conditions/ventilation = evaporation even with a blower which I don’t use! :(

Good morning folks

We have achieved 'dry to touch' as we leave,,,,,but never been foolish enough to promise what may not be delivered.
Don't be fooled by claims made by some systems concerning the speed of drying
We have one of these systems and although they do achieve 30 minute drying.......they DO NOT ACHIEVE  the deap cleaning which hwe does whether t/m or powerful portable.
I can tell you,, that you can achieve extremely rapid drying with the most basic equipment, provided that you use the the correct principals of prespray / aggitate / extract
What you have to know, is what you are capable of delivering and  what you intend charging, as this will determine, to a fair extent, the time and effort spent on each job.
YOU WILL NOT GAIN A REPUTATION IN A FEW WEEKS FOR .....QUALITY  /  RELIABILITY  /  SERVICE....
No matter what any marketing genius or slick salesman tells you, IT TAKES TIME...
BORING !!!!!!  Probably, but if this is to become your primary source of income and a long term business it will pay you to only offer what you expect to deliver.
No one ( almost no one )really expects their suite to be dry and back in use as you leave.
If we are asked about drying times, we always state that  it's dependent on a number af factors ;-

How heavily soiled the item is,
The nature of the soiling,
The type of fabric,
The method of cleaning,
The air quality within the house,

If you are new to the business look for a basic training course, there are plenty on offer, check out manufacturers sites as several have regular one or two day courses, there are also marketing courses from which you can learn a great deal, the Alltec one is the one that,s best known to me, personally.
Any one whose been in this business as long as me can waffle on for hours with advce and it might pay you to take heed of much of the advice offered freely on these boards

Need to go, as I have work to do

best of luck

Robert/Therapist,

Thanks for another sensible and informative post.

I adopt very much the same approach as you and try to be honest with the customer ,most of who are not stupid and will readily accept logical statements.

Cheers,

Doug

I like to keep thing simple with the customer, when you have done your washing is it dry? Only been court out once she had washer/tumble drier machine, now I check!

Doug

Can you elaborate on the word TRY! If I take it the way you posted, not very good at that, as I go into Pinocchio mode! ;D ;D

Ian

If that were only true! But one must keep up appearance.  ;D

I know what customers expectations are and the difficulty of makng promises and not keeping them.  But just for a minute imagine the selling potential you would have as no one else offers this benefit.

Now work out how it can be done.

Personally, I dont think its fesible (sp) with HWE due to time hanging about but with Texatherm and a fan its very possible but as someone said its not as deep a clean.

There is at least one company claiming  to do exactly what your saying in a marketing leaflet.

I have one in my possession as I was recently conned by these people into purchasing the system on the ptomise of contract work which they claimed was up and running throughought the UK.

That's another story

Without using turbo driers you can achieve  " dry to touch " results. but only on some fabricts/ carpets and only when the client has them cleaned frequently and is generally good at day to day maintenance.

I am always prepared to say to clients that no one will achieve faster drying and no one will get a better result than us and I believe it.

The only potential problem is when someone else is actually carrying out the work on your behalf.

If you follow the basic guidelines of prespray / aggitate / extract you can achieve what you seek provided, of course that you take around an hour minimum to clean a suite.
