Forum v face to face.
« on: March 20, 2009, 12:38:30 am »
Dont you find it kind of strange, that we all seem to get along on here?..we help each other out with any problem you can imagine....!

But in the street, every time i see another window cleaner...(apart from the couple i know,of course)

i get eyeballed, as if i am the enemy.... i smile and nod my head...

but it just got me wondering...if the same people
who eyeball me, are maybe on here, ?

and may have possibly helped me out?

like, told me how to canvass, what sort of properties,

and not to worry about patches, as there aint no such thing..... but in the real world, face to face... its a different matter...... maybe ?

Or are am i being silly  ??? ;D

Every time i see a window cleaner in the areas i work i wave to them like they are a long lost friend  ;D...i get some very strange looks. However over the years i have got to know the long lasting ones and we all get on.The newbies allways look nervous when you start chatting, but i do chat to them to suss out if they are legal or not.

Down 'ere in Cornwall we all get on pretty well me 'Ansome!

I have only heard of a couple of aggressive encounters, warning someone off a patch in about 25 years.

A couple of years ago I even had a call asking for advice on a contract from a chap who had just undercut me on a £15,000 a year contract. The advice was for the contract he had just taken away from my firm. He was friendly I was friendly, but I basically said that the reason he was struggling with the job is that he should have charged twice what he quoted. We still wave when we see each other.

Ever noticed how you pass people in the street and most look like they are angry/moody and if you smile and say morning...their whole face changes....?

Having family problems the last month or so (well, the problem being I won't have one much longer...)

I've still been around, and posted on the other section, but I haven't really felt like talking about work. :(

Seem to get on all right with most of the windies where I live, I think we all know the real enemy is the dole cheat  ;D

Helped a guy with his RO just yesterday, aren't I wonderful! I partly did cos I felt guilty that one of the big companies I do subbie work for got me to do one of his shops. In my defence I didn't know it was his. Turned out it shouldn't have been done at all... ::)

You've got to be reasonable, there's enough work out there do the maths, hundreds of houses per windy, you've just got to find them

we all get along around here mostly, a couple of fallouts every now and then but in general we share work, water and lend equipement to each other.

When my van broke down last year I borrowed no fewer than 3 different vehicles from 3 different cleaners.

We all have each others numbers and quite often go out together - it's a bit like The Good Life!

Always speak to w/cleaners we see, and wave to anyone in a van. Now they all wave to us or beep if we dont see them first.
Best thing about it is when you pass info & work to each other, which has happened to us.
We are about to take over 20 residential custies from a w/cleaner we got chatting to when we were carding up, so its well worthwhile passing the time of day with others in the trade.  ;)
