RO Booster Pump Advice.....
« on: February 16, 2009, 12:58:19 pm »
Hi all, i've just purchased an Aquatec 8800 booster pump to use with my 40" RO system. My current setup is as follows -

Tap (40psi) into 2 x 20" pre-filters then into Booster pump then to 40" RO.

The problem is that it makes no difference whatsoever whether the pump is turned on or not. The pressure is still the same if not worse.

Am i doing something wrong or is the pump bust/unsuitable?

Thanks

most equatic pumps have low gpd values mostly 50gpd, they not designed for window cleaning ro-man sell one think its about 200 quid
that pump quotes use with membranes  50 to 100 GPD, its got adjustable pressure 40 to 120psi you could try to adjust it to max but i doubt it will work,

I had one simlar, that came with a 300gpd system I bought, I tried it on 4040 and it slowed it down, i think it is the flow rate you need to look at as well as the psi

Sorry but that pump is totally useless for a 40 inch system.

The flow is nowhere near enough as Jonisdell has said.

You need something like this http://www.ro-man.com/shop/product_info.php/cPath/28/products_id/245

i use a shureflow 100psi pump as a booster works a treat, brought a second hand one off ebay  9 months so far no problems, just make sure high pressure switch wired in works really fast 450gpd ro-man, i use about 400l per day.
