« on: February 04, 2009, 03:28:09 pm »
I am thinking of getting a renault kangoo over the next couple of weeks and would like to know how everyone on here who has or had one, finds getting the ladders on and off them.

Thanks gerard  :)

hi I have a kangoo 2001 year the thing I find is you have to open passenger door and stand on the door sill to reach high enough to put ladder clamps on and open both the back doors and stand on the back step to reach. I am 5ft 10.
and I have spent ££££'s in repair costs so next time a nice new VW maxi-caddy !!!!!! ;D
hope this helps

Had a kangoo for 4.5 years, it's been a superb van & has only cost me the usual wear & tear/servicing costs. It owes me nothing, even if it went bang tomorrow.

As for ladders there's a real simple solution. you need to fit some brackets ( i used exhaust brackets) fit them to the roof bars so that they hold your big ladder in place, so it can't move from side to side. place your A-frame ladder on top of your big ladder & hold them both down with bungee straps. You will have to lift the A-frame off but the big ladder can be slid on & off from the back with ease. Ladder clamps are way too fussy & time consuming, this way you have your ladders on & off in no time. I've not used clamps for 4 years & go up & down the A1 too. ;)

i find the higher a van is the easier it is to get ladders on with in reason , your more likely to hurt or strain your back lowering them down to a low roof of a car

wtf?? are you like 9ft tall? i use a astravan and you dont lower them down onto roof? and how can it be easier with a higher van when you need a step to reach the ladders?

6.4 mate when i used to have a laguna estate i was lowering the ladders at about  shoulder height now on my berlingo my arms are above my head its easier to hold a weight at a high height as suppose to having your arms straight out
