well said. Gladiator did it for me

Dont know if I can mention companies (moderators delete if you wish) but i bought a second van
No no claims as its another van, insurance company used for other van, NUD, quotes just over £1000.

Rang another, forgets the name quotes £733.

Rang gladiator hey presto £513.

So guess what rang NUD back and told them and they said "they couldn't match that quote but  'If i would like to transfer the no claims off my wifes car' "

Get real NUD and you peeps out there dont just accept the first quote or the renewal, ring around and you could save 50%

I had problems fiding cheap van insurance as well.  If you get a "commercial vehicle" quote it can be very expensive.

HOWEVER: Some companies will treat you van like its not a commercial vehicle, and the standard policy includes "use in connection with the policyholders business" and this is much cheaper.

Tesco and Direct Line are two I know oof that do this.

What is a double whammy is that you can't use your no-claims bonus twice, so if you are using it on your car, you can't also use it on your van.  This was a painful lesson, and in my opinion is a total rip-off.

Norwich Union allowed me to "Mirror" my NCD last year. It's worth checking if they still do.

Just had a quote sent to me from budget (www.budgetinsurance.com) and they would have saved me about £30 so give them a go as well.

1999 "Kangoo" Van with 1945 driver, £220 Tp F & T with NFU, [National Farmer's Union]. That's for me without business use.
When I started in business, the premium went up, by just over £4-00p - per year!!!

Tescos online.
They act as brokers and give you 14 day guarantee to be the cheapest /best quote.
Also filling in insurance online meens you can adjust your details slightly to find the best quote .
For example if you havnt bought a van you can get quick quotes on various models. ( i sound like i work for them !!! )I dont but they are worth a try.

Why the need for 'cheap van insurance' dosent matter if its 100 per year or 1000 its tax deductable at the end of the year so its not really costing you anything any way?

Erm... I think you mean that you don't pay tax on it. I.e. you would normally pay 23% tax plus 7% NI = 30% on this money.

So, the taxman is only paying 30% of your insurance. The rest is paid by you. It is therefore in your interests to obtain it as cheaply as possible.
