There is new scam thahas started doing the rounds. Someone will phone your landline number and pretend to be from BT. They will say your phone bill / DD's have gone unpaid and you will be cut off if they don't take payment that day.
If you question them as to wether they are from BT they will say to rove it they will cut off your phone now and call you back in 5 mins after you have tried to make an outgoing call. They are using a mobile phone and so if they do not cancel the call you will still be conected to them, so all they do is cover the mouth piece. You put your phone down and then try to make an out going call and heypresto no dialing tone.
They saying they will only take a payment of between £20 and £50 while the matter is being sorted out...... because naturally you think the bill has been paid....
They take your card details and go on a spending spree.....
