running varistream from van battery
« on: October 25, 2007, 09:45:13 am »
hi guys, i know you shouldn't but i was wondering if anyone runs their varistream straight from their van battery, and if this has caused any problems?

i was thinking of getting a rectifier, but am struggling to find one that takes 10 amps

thanks

It can be done.
Remember to fit an inline fuse
Problem arises if you drain your vehicle battery and you are left stranded.
Best to buy a leisure battery and fit a spilt relay so leisure battery is always being charged as you go along.

I do, never had any problems. Just check the amphour rating of your atanator to chek that it can cope with charging up the battery in time

I used to run my flojet pump from an interior boot light but now have installed a ciggy lighter in the boot. I think it depends on how much ammer you give it.
