a day to forget about!!!!!!!
« on: November 25, 2008, 04:39:53 pm »
had the worst day today,   the quick release connector on my lance opened when i was starting up the machine and i had the lance leaning against the fence near to a bay window., what happens?? the pressure hose end flew up and went through the double glazing? :o :o :o :o :o :o :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'( :'(

i new the customer from a while ago and lucky he was reasonable about it.

i have never even scraped or damaged anything ever in nearly 5 years of business and this happens.]

i probably should have not leaned the lance on the turbo nozzle end against the fence near windows or i wont ever in the future but its just unbelievable.

im paying for the new window out of my pocket as dont want to ruin my no claims and i refused to be paid as i could not charge them after this even though they offered the money.  maybe im soft but i felt so bad as they are nice people/

still cant believe it as im always carefull.! ??? ::)

then stuck on another job this afternoon which took well longer than expected.

my back is killing, i also banged my head!   and im losing out financially today!

jesus help me! :'(

You need to get the customer to claim it off their house insurance, for glass they usually dont have to pay any excess.

I have a guy who cuts my grass and a stone went through my front window a couple of months ago, phoned the insurance and it was sorted for free within a few days.

Maybe that could be due to some security aspect - just like replacement car windscreens as they are a safety aspect.

DS, I would find out how much this is going to cost to replace. A friend of mine recently locked himself out of a house that he was looking after for a relative. To get back in he broke the downstairs WC window. He then had to pay £90 for a replacement!

It may be the better option to claim via your insurance, or maybe even suggest that the home owner claims via there own insurance, as suggested by Simon. You could pay their XS and leave the job as FOC.

Bad luck, you have my sympathy.

i paid for the window out of my own pocket, luckily it was only £100.  it will protect my no claims discount! :o

Well Done

While a business who always delivers a service without no mishaps looks good a business that has had a problem is judged on how they dealt with it.

You dealt with it in my opinion exactly right. The money it cost you today you will recover easily through the excellent word of mouth both you and your business will recieve.

Any client will take you on now full of confidence that if something goes wrong you will deal with it.You will not try to hide it get out of it or quibble over who should pay for it.

This level of advertising cannot be bought and you will find that todays cloud really will have a silver lining

well done
