hi to all,

just a little question, we are in domestic cleaning, and are currently cleaning a house which has round fifty windows in it, the lady wants us to scrap all the paint off the windows, which we dont have a problem with, but was wondering if their maybe an easier way to do this or a fastest way? please help.

Unger do a first rate razor type, fold out blade.
Its 4 inches long and when opened out and folded back on itself, can then be clipped into  the handle that would normally hold the squeegee channel.
It is the ideal piece of kit for this job.
You can use the stanley scraper, but the stanley blade is shorter, for a lot of scraping you are better off with the unger knife.

You can get bigger ones again, but they really aren't as good.

Stanley also do a small razor type scraper too, fantastic for the ceramic hob, and real nifty to have in your pocket for the odd bit of 'nibbing off'.

Using the scrapers that are designed with this function in mind is really the only way of cleaning up glass covered in paint/silicone/putty and so on.

.............unless its frosted glass or tulip glass (uneven, patterned surface stuff), if it is then you're stuffed

Yes a big scraper makes the job faster; but make sure you lubricate the glass with some soapy water first.

Otherwise it's a bit dry when you scrape and (apparantly) you could scratch the glass, although I've dry scraped plenty of times (just for a small patch of hard-to-remove-dirt) and it's been fine.

Also make sure the scraper blade is in good condition or preferably new otherwise you can easily scratch the windows if the blade is duff.

A rusty blade is a big no especially on older glass.

KNOW YOUR GLASS SURFACES, TRAIL & TEST FOR ANY "FABRICATION DEBRI- PICK UP- SURFACE DEFECTS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY SCRAPING .

Wire wool 000 or 0000 will get rid of the really small spots that the scraper misses as well as a lot of the other muck, use wet, or dry for a final check.
